Hi all,
Hugely Appreciate the replies and knowledge here.
So essentially I’m leaving the Royal Marines in the next few months, i’ve loved nutrition and training for the best part of 10 years and having both trained and advised friends/family and surrounding people, have decided to turn this passion into a future career.
In an aim to build some sort of credible foundation of knowledge i’ve completed an Advanced Diploma in Nutrition & Weight Management, and a Level 3 Certificate in Nutrition for Physical Activity, both course are accredited by the AfN. I’m currently in the process of completing my Level 3 PT Qualification, as well as an RSPH Level 4 Award in Nutrition. Which has led to me starting my own training and lifestyle coaching business (Very early days, but making progress)
I’m in a position where i could attend University fully funded, looking to do a Bsc(Hons) in Nutrition, Health & Exercise. I have a huge drive to obtain as much knowledge as possible with the aim of using it to help as many people as possible.I’m at a crossroads, as to whether i should undertake the nutrition degree which will put huge financial stress on me and my partner, or focus on growing my business and do other courses to gain knowledge funded by myself.
I guess i’m asking if the nutrition degree is worth it? I know i’ll love the learning process and the information gained, but is the return worth the 4 years of financial struggle or are there others course which perhaps could be more useful?
Any help/advice is seriously welcomed!!
From experience i would say no personaly, It’s clinically based and alot of the government recommendations are outdated and some are just outrageous. You will spend a fortune over 3 yrs and someone can do a two month course and also call themselves a nutritionist as it’s not a registered title like Dietetics. Like Hilly said the money isn’t great in government roles. I loved uni and learnt alot but for 20plus K and 3 yrs i haven’t earnt any money directly from my degree.

Hey, i have a degree in nutrition but to be an accredited Dietitian i would need to do a masters, unfortunately there’s not many options for a masters degree in dietetics in this country, i applied to kings college but as it’s paid for by the government there is a large amount of applicants. If i could do it again i would go straight for a dietetics degree which is usually 4yrs.
There is a post grad at leeds met I have looked at doing.
However based on my current education and qualifications and money earned it would make no sense to take the 2 years out hard study when most average NHS dieticians to specialist only earn circa 30k a year. As I work for the NHS part time they would sponsor me through part of it and I stand a great chance of getting on the course as I work as a dietetic assistant and menu designer for the children with Eating disorders. If I went full time as a dietician on this ward and stopped my private work id loose money.
The field is very demanding within the NHS for not the best pay IMO

Hi Ryan,
Which of youth revisited’s blood panels would be the one to use on a regular basis? Clearly, the competitive athlete option is the most comprehensive, but is this the one most people use? If not, then which of the less comprehensive packages would cover the essentials. Hope this isn’t a naive question. Thanks.
its really just to lean out for my holiday and put me in a better place to try and add more tissue after, anything will be an improvement tbh but i am hard on my self, the volume of food at times in my belly makes me look fatter than i am
we are all our own worst critics sometimes

Hey,
you could look at increasing activity a little, so log steps, hit 10,000 a day for example, i wouldn’t drop too much too soon, minor adjustments i.e switch to cooking with 1kcal spray, drop carbs a little on no training days. log pics amd weight weekly and adjust as you go.

thats for the response m8, i was thinking of dropping carbs on non training days, make them more a pro fat day, hitting steps ill give it ago its pretty hard to make sure every day is roughly the same with work, changes daily, do you think sub 10% body fat is achievable if I’m guessin im 15% going by the charts online
aslong as you look how you want to look then you’ve achieved your goal, I’ve never measured b.fat but i check my condition by pinching my fattest areas, ass and lower back. Some body parts come in quicker than others. Under 10% and most will look conditioned but not exhausted or fatigued with it.Instagram: @primitivegymnasium

hey, just answered this on another post and yes lol blood work dependent. It’s impossible just to guess whether we are healthy or not like the old days, you can cruise until bloods are good then blast then back down again. TRT is the perfect dose for health and getting levels back down to within range. Some may cruise for 6weeks then blast for 12 to 14 but taking regular bloods between will ensure you make the right decisions. Health supplements play a v important role in promoting healthy blood work results. So if something is out post bloods up and you can get advise on here.

hey, you can cruise for aslong as you wish but regular blood work would be recommended to ensure its not effecting your health. If something comes back off you can look at potential solutions, either herbal products if your blood pressure is high, blood letting to reduce red blood cells if they are high, kidney stack, i.e tudca, nac. So regular blood work can tell you when you need to come down or what you can do to solve problems arising. Youth Pharmacy revisited are v good for blood work as they look at it from a bodybuilding perspective. running 300mg a week of test would put you around double the average male in testosterone give or take. So when we TRT around 150mg a week then this is the perfect state for our bodies to bring any abnormal levels back down whilst still giving us a nice level of natural test(at the highest end of the spectrum 30mmol). So yes many cruise then blast which is fine but you have to be sensible and get regular bloods every 4to6 weeks say ideally.
